May 23rd FarmHour

Mark VanGlad, was on the show with his dad Tony VanGlad on May 23.  Mark is the first brewer to sell beer/ale at the NYC Greenmarkets and his is the only entirely farmer-produced beer in the state, now possible because of legislation passed in 2009 in New York  State, which allows small producers, who produce less than 60,000 barrels a year to sell at farmers’ markets. He grows barley and hops in Stamford NY and as the owner of Tundra Brewery developed the recipe for his maple infused Ma Pale Ale and brewed it in a facility that he put together. It has been favorably reviewed by Eric Asimov, tthe spirits, wine and beer critic for the NY Times. Tony produces maple syrup and maple products and also makes sorghum syrup
